This is a difficult time of year for me.  It’s the 4th year I have spent the holidays as a widow. I don’t like that job title.  Not at all.  It’s a time of year I need to be proactive to manage my emotions.

David Kessler is the grief specialist and author of many books including Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief.  I’ve found a lot of value and insight from that book, and from his work.

In the short video below David articulates The 6 Elements We All Need in Grief.  I found these very helpful, especially for me during the holidays.   They are:

  • Surround yourself with community
  • Continued connections
  • Grief does not define you
  • Treat yourself as your best friend
  • Don’t compare
  • Count your wins

It’s definitely worth learning more by watching the video.
